I had such a wonderful time today being a Judge along with Teena Raffa-Mulligan.Author at the Read Out Loud Awards organised by the Ruth Faulkner Library at Redcliffe Primary School. The reading skills of the kids were so impressive and thoroughly entertaining. Definitely some budding actors, newsreaders and perhaps politicians in the room today. Glenn Swift did a superb job as MC.

Today at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content was definitely a highlight in my career as an author. I got to hang out in the Green Room and chat with one of my Children’s Literature heroes Andy Griffiths. He was very generous with his time and a very engaging speaker. Sometimes meeting your heroes can be disappointing but not with Andy. He was so down to earth and humble.

It was a real honour to be invited to take part in a panel discussion this Friday at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content in Singapore. The topic was ‘New Avenues for Children’s Books: Collaborating in a Global Economy’ and I was joined on the panel by the outrageously talented illustrator David Liew, Charles Santosa, Bonni Rambatan and Nora Nazerene Abu Bakar.

Paper Bird Children’s Books and Arts in Perth runs a fantastic book club for children and this month’s book to review will be Scarlet Hood. I will be at the store on Friday at 4pm to answer questions from the young book reviewers.

Today I presented my showcase at the Society of Children’s Book Illustrator’s and Writers (SCBWI) Booth at the Bologna Children’s Book Festival where I introduced to the international publishing world copies of Crazy Crab and Scarlet Hood whilst dressed in a crab costume!

Crazy Crab has won the Silver Medal at THE WISHING SHELF BOOK AWARDS for 2017 in the Pre-School Picture Books Category. The children’s books were read and judged by children in UK primary schools.
